    Playground Update

At the request of the Viewlands community, a district representative visited Viewlands on October 4 to provide an update on the installation of our primary play structure (currently in storage) and the replacement of the Omni-spin. Our community worked tirelessly to raise funds, design and build upgrades to our playground. We are all anxious to have our play structure unpacked and installed for our students to enjoy. A design team met at the school on October 6 to finalize layout and grading for the play structure. Once the design is confirmed, you will notice temporary fencing taking a portion of our field to prepare for construction of the border for the play structure. We are hopeful this will move forward in the next few weeks and we will keep families updated on the progress. The PTSA has graciously agreed to split the cost of the deductible to replace the Omni-spin damaged by fire this past June, and the replacement has been installed thanks to the ongoing efforts of our PTSA and families. We appreciate your ongoing support!

    All School Zoo Field Trip

Fall is in the air, which means our 7th Annual All School Zoo Field Trip is just around the corner. The field trip is scheduled for Tuesday, October 31. Be on the lookout for information coming home from your classroom teacher. We will be in need of chaperones. If you are interested, please communicate with your teacher. Chaperones will need to complete the volunteer packet, including a photocopy of your driver’s license, by Monday, October 16. The paper forms need to be completed annually and a one-time online adult conduct course is required. Please see Ms. Roscoe or Ms. Abbott if you have questions regarding the volunteer packet. Chaperone spots are limited. This field trip has been a fun way for our community to celebrate fall harvest season, and it has been a treat to watch hippos eating pumpkins! We ask families to please not send students in costume.

    November Conferences

There is no school November 20 – November 22 as the school will be hosting student conferences. Classroom teachers will be connecting with each family to schedule a conference time. Many teachers will be hosting student-led conferences. In this case, you will be asked to bring your student as he/she will be leading the conversation around progress and goals for the school year. We value your partnership and look forward to having this time to share the wonderful learning happening each day in the classroom.
