    Welcome Back!

We are excited to launch the 2017-2018 school year in partnership with our students and families, and we welcome our new families to the Viewlands Community. During our staff in-service days, we were busy preparing for the school year by digging into our new Center for Collaborative Classrooms Literacy Curriculum. Viewlands is also launching the RULER Curriculum. RULER stands for Recognizing, Understanding, Labeling, Expressing, Regulating and is a social-emotional literacy curriculum designed to help learners manage emotions to successfully negotiate life experiences at school, work and/or home. We created a Staff Charter and each classroom will develop a Class Charter that sets a vision for the classroom community in the next few weeks.

    Introducing New Staff

This year we welcome new staff to our building. We are fortunate to recruit the best staff. Please welcome the newest members of the Orca Staff:

Nina Machuca joins our team as a Spanish speaking Instructional Assistant.

Le Ngo is our primary grades Special Education resource teacher.

Caitlin Rich teaches Fifth Grade and recently completed her Seattle Teacher Residency.

    Volunteering at Viewlands

Viewlands Elementary values a partnership with our families and community. We welcome you to volunteer at our school. Classroom teachers will be providing specific information regarding volunteer opportunities in the classroom. We also have volunteer opportunities to support our library, office, cafeteria and special events. Individuals interested in volunteering must get the forms in the office. These need to be completed every school year. If you are interested in volunteering for the PTSA please contact Lynette Hoss, VEPTSA Volunteer Coordinator, at
