Hello Viewlands Families!

Happy Summer! Today was the last day of the 2023-2024 school year! This week students, teachers, and families were feeling all the big feelings. When a school year ends, it is a time of change, which can be exciting for some students, scary and worrisome for some students, while some students feel both of those and everything in between! It can feel like an emotional rollercoaster! That is normal and expected.

On Tuesday this week, we hosted our kindergarten celebration. It is always fun to celebrate the end of kindergarten with students and families! It is a milestone.

This same week, we hosted our 5th grade promotion celebration on Thursday, where we celebrated our 5th graders. We honored the end of their elementary school experience, with all the things that were accomplished and experienced in those years and celebrated their launch into secondary school! There were smiles, tears, joy, and a lot of pride as you looked out in the sea of students, family members, loved ones, and educators! Congratulations to our 5th graders! I am exceptionally proud of each one of them! Whether they were with us since kindergarten or joined us this year as 5th graders, they each individually have brilliance to shine out in the world. You are now officially 6th graders! Your Viewlands family will always be here cheering your wildly on as you navigate this next chapter!

Summer Viewlands Office Hours and Communications

This is the last weekly update of the 2023-2024 school year. Next week we will be updating our website and sending postcard invites to our incoming kindergarten families.  I will start sending weekly communication updates to Viewlands families the end of August. These are sent to all families enrolled at Viewlands as of August 2024.

We will continue to have office hours Monday June 24th through Friday June 28th and Monday, July 1st and Tuesday July 2nd. Ms. Lin will be in the office and available to answer questions on those days between 8AM and 2PM. Please e-mail Ms. Lin if you need to come to the school to pick up something forgotten. Teachers are not available as their last day was Friday, June 21st, same as students. There are no school tours available. There are no office hours at Viewlands Wednesday July 3rd through Tuesday August 13th. Office hours will resume Wednesday August 14th.

I am working during the summer when not taking vacation days. You are welcome to e-mail me questions you might have during the summer. I will respond when working and available. Please note, that given vacation days, my response time might be longer than what is typical during the school year. I will be back in district meetings and next year planning starting August 5th. Ms. Lin will be back in office starting August 14th.

School Supply Lists for the 2024-2025 School Year

We know not all families are able to contribute supplies! That is ok! We will make sure all students have what they need. Families that can provide school supplies, we greatly appreciate it. If you can donate additional supplies to the office for non-classroom spaces, like our multilingual program, our special education programs, our school counselor, and our office, we would greatly appreciate those as well. The supply lists are linked below. The list of school supplies will also be updated and available on our website.

Important Beginning of the School Year Calendar Dates for 2024-2025:

• Wednesday, September 4th – First day of school for 1st through 5th Grade Students
• Wednesday, September 4th through Friday, September 6th – Kindergarten Family Connections (teachers will reach to families to schedule the last week of August)
• Monday, September 9th – First day of kindergarten
