Events This Summer
Popsicles in the Park, Play Dates, and Meet and Greets
During the summer there will be a few opportunities to prepare for kindergarten and meet other families. Our Viewlands PTSA partner (VEPTSA) will be hosting a couple popsicles in the park events for incoming families. These dates are still be finalized. A postcard will be sent to our incoming kindergarten families with all the dates at the end of June.
In addition, to VEPTSA hosted events in the park, Viewlands will also have a mini Kinder Camp. This is not required, but we encourage families that are able to send their incoming kindergarten to attend. It is two mornings in August. The goals of our Kinder Camp is for your child to see and explore the spaces at school that will be part of their kindergarten experience, to meet the Kindergarten teachers and team, and to have a little fun.
Kinder Camp at Viewlands
Monday, August 24th and Tuesday August 25th @ 9:00AM-11:30AM at Viewlands
There is no transportation provided for Kinder Camp. It is optional to attend but highly encouraged.
To attend, families need to complete a registration form. Please complete the registration form if you plan for your child to attend one or both days of the Kinder Camp.

Specific details will be sent to families in August about drop off, pick-up, what to bring, etc. This will be sent in mid-August. For now please note that your child will only need to bring a water bottle and snack (if they don’t want or can’t have the shared snack) for Kinder Camp.

Communication Over the Summer
A postcard with summer events will be sent to incoming families in the mail the end of June.
The Principal Updates and Information for the Start of School will be sent via e-mail starting in mid-August.
The Viewlands office will be closed between the end of June and the middle of August.
Principal Wheeler will be working intermittently in July and will return to more regular office hours in August.
Start of School Supplies:
Start of School Supplies: You will be asked if able to pay a designated amount for start of school supplies. The school and VEPTSA then does all the purchasing. This makes it easier for families, makes sure we have the preferred communal supplies, and gets the best rate. This means you do NOT need to go shopping for school supplies. The information with the direct link to pay the start of school supply fee will be sent in future communications. If your family is unable to cover this cost, the supplies will still be provided through donations.
The only things you will be asked to provide for your child are a backpack and a school water bottle for kindergarten. If your family needs support getting a backpack or a water bottle, we will have some available in our Orca Cares Closet.
